Álvaro Arbeloa Questions Refereeing After Real Madrid’s Defeat – “I Don’t Understand How Tah Wasn’t Sent Off for His Tackle on Mbappé”

Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa has voiced strong frustration with the refereeing decisions during his team’s recent match, particularly the failure to send off Jonathan Tah for a tackle on Kylian Mbappé and the yellow card shown to Aurélien Tchouaméni, which has resulted in his suspension for the second leg.
In comments widely circulated on social media and reported by multiple outlets, Arbeloa said:
“I don’t understand how Tah wasn’t sent off for his tackle on Mbappé, and I don’t understand how Tchouaméni was given a yellow. But now he’s suspended, so we have to find a solution for that.”
The remarks come after a heated encounter where Real Madrid suffered a setback, leaving them with a difficult task in the return leg. Tchouaméni’s suspension means the French midfielder will miss the crucial next fixture, forcing Arbeloa to adjust his midfield options.
Arbeloa, who took over as coach earlier in the season, has been vocal about the need for consistency in officiating, especially in high-stakes games involving star players like Mbappé.
The incident involving Tah’s challenge on Mbappé has sparked debate among fans and pundits, with many agreeing that it warranted a red card. Meanwhile, Tchouaméni’s booking has been described by some as harsh, given the context of the game.
Real Madrid will now have to regroup and find a tactical solution in midfield for the upcoming leg, with the club’s focus shifting to overcoming the suspension and the deficit.
