Aliko Dangote Reclaims Title as Africa’s Richest Man

Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has regained his position as Africa’s richest person, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index. With a net worth of $13.7 billion, Dangote surpasses South African billionaire Johann Rupert and family, who have a net worth of $13.3 billion.

Despite facing challenges, including the operation of his newly established oil refinery and ongoing economic protests in Nigeria, Dangote has maintained his wealth. His net worth fluctuated recently, dipping slightly from $13.8 billion to $13.6 billion, but has now edged out Rupert once again.

Other Africans on the list include South Africans Nicky Oppenheimer and Natie Kirsh, as well as Egyptians Nassef Sawiris and Naguib Sawiris. The Bloomberg Billionaire Index is a daily ranking of the world’s richest people, and the figures are updated at the close of every trading day in New York.
