Algeria Joins BRICS Bank: A New Chapter in Economic Growth

Algeria has officially joined the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), marking a significant milestone in its economic journey. The country’s finance ministry announced that NDB chief Dilma Rousseff approved Algeria’s membership during a meeting in Cape Town, South Africa.

Algeria’s strong macroeconomic indicators and upper-tier emerging economy status made it an attractive candidate for membership. The country is expected to benefit from new opportunities to support and enhance its economic growth, particularly in the medium and long term.

As Africa’s primary exporter of natural gas, Algeria’s membership in the NDB is seen as a strategic move to diversify its economy and strengthen its position on the global stage.
