Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change Set to Launch as Official Political Party on October 16

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s Movement for Change (M4C) is poised to transition from a political movement to a full-fledged party, with an official unveiling scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra.

The event, expected to draw political leaders from across the country, comes nearly two years after Kyerematen resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in September 2023 to contest the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate under the M4C banner.

The movement, symbolized by the monarch butterfly (Afrafranto in Akan, representing transformation and hope), adopts the motto “Ghana Will Rise Again” and centers on the Great Transformational Plan (GTP), a blueprint for economic renewal through value addition in sectors like oil, gas, minerals, and agriculture.

Communications team member Solomon Owusu described the new party as a “broad-based centrist national party that seeks a united Ghana with the view to liberating the energies of every Ghanaian for economic transformation.”

Social media handles for M4C have ramped up anticipation, posting teasers like “New Party that believes in Ghana first,” signaling a challenge to Ghana’s duopoly dominated by the NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kyerematen, a veteran politician with stints as Trade Minister (2017–2023), Ambassador to the U.S. (2001–2003), and UN trade advisor, formed M4C amid frustration with the NPP’s “winner-takes-all” system.

The movement, backed by the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) including Dr. Abu Sakara and Akwasi Addai Odike, aimed to end the two-party stranglehold in 2024 but fell short. Analysts note M4C’s impact split NPP votes in Akan strongholds, contributing to the party’s 2024 loss.
