Afadjato MP Slams NPP for Arrogance at Delegates Conference, Urges Apology for 2024 Failures

Frank Afriyie, the MP for Afadjato South, criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership for its “tone-deaf and arrogant” stance during the National Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on July 21, 2025, Afriyie argued that the NPP missed a vital opportunity to apologize for the economic hardships and unfulfilled promises that led to its significant defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Instead, he condemned the party’s defiant rhetoric, particularly from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who claimed the NPP was not broken and accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of exacerbating economic woes.
Afriyie also took issue with statements from Nhyiaeso MP Stephen Amoah and NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, who suggested Ghanaians regretted voting for the NDC just six months after the election.
Afriyie stressed that the NPP should have expressed remorse for “faulty policies” and “imposed hardships” to rebuild trust, warning that boasting about resilience without acknowledging failures risks further alienating voters.
