Acting GRA Boss Faces Protests Amid First Public Appearance
Kwesi Sarpong, the Acting Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has made his first public appearance as the guest speaker at the African Tax Administration Forum in Accra, despite controversy surrounding his appointment.
President John Dramani Mahama announced Sarpong’s appointment on January 21, tasking him with overseeing Ghana’s tax collection and revenue mobilization efforts.
However, some National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters have protested his appointment, citing concerns over his alleged ties to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and potential loyalty issues.
Sarpong, a seasoned accountant and auditor, remains focused on optimizing resources to boost government revenue for national development.
