70-Year-Old Man Dies in House Fire at Sefwi Adjoafua

A 70-year-old man, Kwasi Nkansah, has died after a domestic fire completely destroyed a two-bedroom house in the community on Monday, February 16, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, stating that the blaze razed the two-bedroom, one-kitchen home.

Firefighters who responded to the scene battled heavy rainfall and poor road conditions but successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.

The GNFS expressed condolences to the family and community while urging the public to prioritise fire safety, especially by:

Supervising vulnerable persons (children, elderly and persons with disabilities)

Practising basic fire prevention habits

Reporting emergencies immediately

“Stay safe: supervise the vulnerable, practise fire safety, and report emergencies immediately,” the Service advised.

No other casualties were reported in the incident. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and further processes.
