21-year-old boyfriend of late KNUST student arrested after CCTV review

A final-year student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been arrested in connection with the death of his alleged girlfriend, Miss Joana Deladem Yabani.
21-year-old Daniel Tuffuor was taken into custody after a review of CCTV footage showed him wearing the same attire as the person seen in the footage during the crime.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, Tuffuor is currently assisting with investigations. The police have also intensified their surveillance on the KNUST campus, with a 24-hour operation to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has assured the university of their support and safety on campus. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, has expressed her appreciation for the IGP’s support and assurances.
Miss Yabani, a final-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, was found dead near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre on February 27, 2025. The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
