13 Road Users to Face the Law as Western North Police Intensify Decongestion Exercise

The Western North Regional Police Command has embarked on a decongestion exercise on roads in the region, particularly in Sefwi Wiawso, the regional capital, as part of efforts to enhance road safety and reduce accidents.

Speaking to the Traffic Management Supervisor in charge of Operations and Education at the Western North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Opoku, said road users must conform to rules and regulations to avoid accidents.

He explained that 13 of the people arrested would be sent to face the law, while others would be issued warning letters, all aimed at restoring sanity on the roads.

Chief Inspector Opoku educated the general public, especially road users, to ensure they comply with Ghana’s new road traffic regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), particularly the TrafficTech automated traffic law enforcement system by the Ghana Police Service and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department.

He expressed that the command is ready to educate the general public on the new traffic regulations and called on individuals and institutions to invite them for education sessions.
